A Tasmanian man who was found guilty of attempting to murder his ex-partner has been charged with attempting to make her recant her evidence against him.
Matthew John Davey set his former girlfriend, Nicole Evans, on fire in 2017, leaving her with "catastrophic burns" and lifelong injuries.
Ms Evans was 20 years old at the time, and Davey was 34.
He was sentenced to 18 years in prison for attempted murder in 2021.
Davey is facing new charges in relation to Ms Evans, including one charge of emotional abuse or intimidation, and multiple charges of breaching a family violence order (FVO).
The FVO states that he cannot be within 100 metres of, contact, or attempt to contact, Ms Evans, directly or indirectly.
In Magistrates Court documents seen by the ABC, police allege the offence of emotional abuse or intimidation occurred between July and August 2024 while Davey was in prison.
The details of the charge included allegations he regularly contacted Ms Evans in breach of the FVO, made intimidating comments to her, and attempted to make her believe she had caused her life-threatening injuries to herself.
It also included an allegation that he pressured her to make a statement recanting evidence she gave that led to his 2021 conviction for her attempted murder.

Davey has also been charged with several offences of breaching the FVO, between January and July last year.
These include allegations that he tried to contact Ms Evans through two of his family members, including on two occasions, arranging for them to meet with Ms Evans where she lives interstate.
He has been charged with using the telephone system at Risdon Prison to attempt to contact or contact Ms Evans himself on more than a dozen occasions.
Davey pleaded not guilty to all these charges in November last year, and the matters will return to court today.
