Ex-Tropical Cyclone Mitchell brings damage and rain to farmers in WA's south

The Bureau of Meteorology says storms across the Great Southern, central Wheatbelt and Goldfields were fuelled by lingering moisture from ex-Tropical Cyclone Mitchell.

A Bruce Rock farmer described the winds and rain that swept through his property on Monday afternoon as the "most intense" he has ever experienced.

What's next? 

Those in the path of the storms are still assessing damage, but sheep and grain farmers are welcoming the rain.
