Australian regulator delays ban on plumbing parts containing lead by two years

The Australian Building Codes Board will allow products containing lead to continue to be installed in homes, schools and childcare centres for two more years.

Businesses had been told they must transition to lead-free plumbing products by this May, but the new deadline is in 2028.

The board says the new deadline will not be reconsidered, despite backlash from the industry.
