NT Police have arrested a man who allegedly attacked his partner and their five-year-old child with a metal scooter.
Police received reports at 3:26am on Saturdayabout a 31-year-old woman who had been "seriously assaulted" at an Alice Springs town camp.
One of her relatives, who made the call for help, told responding officers the woman's 32-year-old partner had allegedly hit the mother and child with a metal push scooter.
"While speaking with the relative, police heard a woman screaming in nearby bushland," NT police said.
Officers followed the sound and found the 31-year-old woman with cuts on "the top of her head and significant swelling to her right arm and right leg".
"The five-year-old child was also located with a laceration to the top of his head," NT Police said.
"The woman told police the offender had fled the scene."
St John Ambulance paramedics took the woman and child to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment.
Authorities said a "full non-contact domestic violence order" was currently in place between the alleged offender and his partner.
Just after 10:30am on Sunday, the man was located by police at a town camp near Alice Springs and arrested.
