SA election promise tracker 2026: What are Labor and the Liberals offering for you?

South Australians will head to the polls on March 21.

Here's a look at what the Liberals and Labor have committed to so far. 

Please note, this story has been updated as of March 17, and covers election commitments above $5 million.

Health

Liberal

  • $350 million hospital to be built in the Barossa Valley.
  • Keep the Women's and Children's Hospital site as a health precinct into the future.
  • $162 million for nurse and midwife training; payments to stay with or rejoin SA Health; and payments for interstate and overseas health professionals relocating to SA to work in the public health system. 
  • Exempt GPs from payroll tax. 
  • $50 million for planning and design work to expand the Royal Adelaide Hospital. 
  • $46.6 million for women who have IVF or assisted reproductive technology treatment in a private clinic and incur an out-of-pocket cost, a $2,000 Fertility Treatment Rebate per cycle and a $250 rebate for pre-IVF testing.
  • $37 million to increase the Patient Assistance Transport Scheme (PATS) accommodation rate from $44 to $110, expanding eligibility to patients who live 50–100km from their health service and travel more than 200km in a week, and ensuring patients can make a claim regardless of the type of specialist treatment they are receiving. 
  • 250 beds at five transition care centres.
  • $20 million to double the number of beds from six to 12 at Helen Mayo House for new mothers experiencing mental health crises.
  • $11 million for a $40,000 incentive for the best and brightest GPs to move to SA from interstate and overseas.
  • $7 million to upgrade the maternity ward at Murray Bridge Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.
  • $6 million for radiotherapy services in Mount Gambier.
  • Free flu vaccines.

Labor

  • $250 million no-interest aged care loan scheme to incentivise the construction of an immediate pipeline of 650 new aged care beds across the state. 
  • Transform the old Women’s and Children’s Hospital site into a dedicated Health and Aged Care Precinct. 
  • Dedicated mental health assessment units next to the Royal Adelaide, Lyell McEwin and Noarlunga hospital emergency departments. 
  • $22 million for a new emergency department at the Clare Hospital.
  • $18.5 million for an IVF rebate scheme.
  • $16 million over four years to expand the Patient Assistance Transport Scheme (PATS), nearly tripling the existing accommodation subsidy and broadening eligibility for a fuel subsidy.
  • $15 million for a new maternity ward and birthing unit and a new renal unit at the Murray Bridge Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.
  • $13.9 million to boost regional ambulance services in Millicent, Yorketown, Barmera and Ceduna.
  • $13.2 million to open 24/7 pharmacies in the Adelaide Hills, Adelaide’s west and Adelaide’s north-east.
  • $13 million medical school training centre in Mount Gambier.
  • $10 million over four years for five specialised women’s health clinics offering free services such as endometriosis and pelvic pain management.
  • $8 million to help Ronald McDonald House secure land to build a bigger accommodation service to support more regional families with sick children receiving treatment in Adelaide.
  • $5.8 million to help South Australians with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), including establishing a MND Biomarker Research Centre of Excellence.
  • $5.6 million to transition the SA Ambulance Service’s volunteer crewing in Murray Bridge to a permanent salaried crew. 

Housing

Liberal

  • Abolish stamp duty for first home buyers for existing properties up to $1 million, as well as waiving the mortgage registration fee. 
  • Reinstate the Home Battery Scheme. 
  • Downsizers looking to move into a smaller home would be given a one-off stamp duty concession of $15,000, up to a property value of $1.2 million.
  • $40 million Build Better Fund to provide low interest finance and grants for builders who are committed to investing in fixed plant and equipment in South Australia, to give builders access to the cutting-edge technology to pursue Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), like 3D printing and modular construction. 
  • $20 million Solar for Renters Scheme, providing landlords and renters with subsidy and no-interest loans to install solar panels.
  • Establish a safety fund of $20 million over four years for those SAHT tenants who need extra protection, for items such as CCTV and screens.

Labor

  • $500 million Housing FastTrack Fund to allow the government to have greater flexibility to secure strategic parcels of land for housing development.
  • $500 million Apartment Fast-Track Fund to unlock apartment developments in the Adelaide CBD and to accelerate the delivery of more homes for South Australians.
  • $280 million to build 1,250 new Rent To Own homes.
  • $70 million for full stamp duty relief to encourage older residents who want to downsize their principal place of residence up to a value of $2 million for new homes, off-the-plan apartments, and vacant land that will be built on.
  • $30 million investment in renovating and renewing 300 vacant Housing Trust properties.
  • $6 million over four years to fund homelessness services at Catherine House, the Hutt Street Centre and St Vincent de Paul.
  • Establish a Portable Rental Bonds Scheme.

Infrastructure

Liberal

  • $1 billion over four years for road maintenance, including for pavement rehabilitation, shoulder reconstruction, drainage upgrades, resurfacing and structural repairs.
  • $211 million for the Greater Adelaide Freight Bypass, including a Truro township bypass, duplication of the Swanport Bridge, upgrades to the Monarto Interchange and level crossing, and critical safety improvements along the freight route.
  • $140 million over 20 years for a sand pipeline between Largs Bay and West Beach to recycle sand along Adelaide beaches.
  • $80 million for the Adelaide and Hawthorn roads intersection in Mount Barker. 
  • $20 million for the Flaxley Road and Hurling Drive intersection in Mount Barker.
  • $20 million for jetty upgrades.
  • $20 million to support regional and rural councils for higher infrastructure delivery costs through a annual Local Government Regional Infrastructure Partnership Program.
  • $15 million for a third lane on the South Eastern Freeway down track between Hahndorf and Bridgewater.
  • $12 million Main Street Activation Fund for regional councils to use on initiatives that support a thriving business and social community in their town.
  • $12 million towards a renewal of the Port Lincoln Marina commercial service wharf.
  • $10 million for the River Torrens Linear Park to deliver better lighting along walking and cycling paths, install new facilities like barbecues, toilets, drinking fountains and nature playgrounds, and support environmental restoration. 
  • $9 million upgrade to the Price Memorial Oval clubrooms and facilities in Hawthorn.
  • $8 million on a park and ride facility at Verdun.

Labor

  • $100 million for a new permanent home for Gymnastics SA.
  • $90 million to increase road safety and improve freight efficiency on the Horrocks Highway, including a new overtaking lane at Sevenhill, the extension of two existing overtaking lanes near Templers and Tarlee, road and bridge widening, and pavement upgrades, plus streetscaping, main street resealing and junction improvements in the townships of Tarlee, Rhynie, Auburn, Watervale and Sevenhill.
  • $80 million for the Adelaide and Hawthorn roads intersection in Mount Barker and to widen Adelaide Road. 
  • $13 million to open public schools for use for arts, sport, recreation and community groups, when not being used by the school. 

Education

Liberal

  • $130 million for the Boosting South Australian Apprentices Program.
  • $120 million investment in basic maintenance and infrastructure at government schools.
  • $12.7 million a year to double annual grants for capital works at non-government schools.
  • No net loss of green space at Adelaide University's Magill campus.

Labor

  • $210 million to upgrade classrooms and buildings over the next four years, including $10 million to strengthen inclusive environments in schools by reducing sensory barriers and improving participation, regulation and wellbeing for autistic learners.
  • $150 million in total for technical colleges at Gawler, Marden and Murray Bridge.
  • $148 million to abolish public school fees.
  • $96 million for a full redevelopment of Mount Barker High School.
  • $45.5 million to give every public primary school child access to Outside of School Hours Care (OSHC).
  • $29 million for 1,000 new university, trade and entry opportunities to study essential skills such as construction management, civil and structural engineering, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and bricklaying.
  • $27 million to help deliver the skills necessary for building nuclear-powered submarines at Osborne as part of the AUKUS program.
  • $25.5 million to construct a new TAFE Trades Workshop in Mount Barker to support 1,200 additional apprentices in plumbing, electrical, carpentry and wet-trades.
  • $22 million plan for students to receive one term of organised before or after-school activities, free of charge every year.
  • $19 million for free school camps for year 7s.
  • $14.4 million to provide 16 to 18 year olds access to sport and music vouchers worth $200 every year.
     $8.6 million upgrade to Fraser Park Primary School in Murray Bridge.
  • $5 million for 250 additional apprentices, with a focus on mature-age students engaged through contractors used by the Housing Trust, SA Water, Renewal SA and other government agencies.
  • New guidelines for government schools and preschools to regulate the use of technology in the classroom, such as screens and devices.
  • A plan to introduce 150 minutes of active learning per week for public school students from reception to year 9.

Law and order

Liberal

  • $40 million Breaking the Cycle Fund to deliver targeted support and rehabilitation, stopping high-risk youth from reoffending.
  • Police Attraction and Retention Plan to recruit experienced police officers from interstate and overseas to move to South Australia; payments to stay with or rejoin SA Police. 
  • Establish a Construction Industry Commissioner to resolve complaints, compel individuals to provide information that the Commissioner requires to fulfil their duties, and direct matters to state and federal authorities.
  • New laws to protect police from assaults. New “break bail, face jail” legislation to ensure serious offenders who break their bail are sent to jail. 
  • Legislate for zero tolerance for incitement, including banning the flags and symbols of recognised terrorist groups, and slogans; introduce additional offences and increase penalties for racial vilification; boost federal and state intelligence sharing; ensure SA Multicultural Commission prioritises anti-racism in line with the core principles of its charter.

Labor

  • $11.4 million for a police drone operations unit with four roof-top drone base stations in the metropolitan area, as well as nine mobile units mounted to trailers that can be used in the regions.
  • New Murray Bridge and Mount Barker police stations.
  • Lifetime ban for serious domestic violence and sexual offenders from accessing online dating platforms, with a default ban of at least 10 years for all offenders.

Public transport

Liberal

  • $240 million to reduce regular Adelaide Metro fares to 50 cents. Student 28-day passes will remain at $10 and South Australian Seniors Card members can still travel for free on Adelaide Metro buses, trains and trams.
  • Trial on-demand bus services to Port Pirie, Victor Harbor, Mount Gambier and the Adelaide Hills, as well as expanding the Barossa Valley and Mount Barker KeoRide systems.
  • Introduce a direct Adelaide Metro service from Murray Bridge to Adelaide. 

Labor

  • $12.8 million to expand the MetroCard zone to Murray Bridge.
  • $10.3 million in additional bus services between Murray Bridge and Mount Barker, and Murray Bridge and Adelaide.
  • $8 million over four years will enable the Seniors Card scheme to be expanded to all South Australians over the age of 60, regardless of how many hours they work.

Business

Liberal

  • $370 million to lift the payroll tax threshold from $1.5 million to $2.1 million, including $80 million in payroll tax exemptions for all apprenticeships.
  • $300 million for a rural financing fund to deliver genuine no and low-interest loans to primary producers.
  • A new $20 million round of the Solar for Business grants program for small businesses. 
  • $10 million Safer Communities Fund to deter crime against small and family businesses and create more vibrant high streets.
  • $6.6 million over four years to expand the Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Uplift initiative over current funding.
  • $6 million for farmers to help them protect their properties and communities from bushfires.
  • $5.5 million to revive the Export Ready Program to help local businesses start exporting, build confidence in global markets, diversify where they sell, and strengthen South Australia’s economic security.

Labor

  • $12 million in a new industry partnership program to strengthen South Australia’s resources sector.
  • Up to $200 million for loans of up to $250,000 over a 10-year term to eligible drought-affected grain and livestock producers.

Budget

Liberal

  • Saving $100 million by halving government spending on advertising.
  • Saving $20 million a year by almost halving the state’s spend on government consultants.
  • Saving of $10 million over four years by scrapping the Premier's Delivery Unit.
  • State Charges and Tax Reform Commission to produce a long-term plan to reform South Australia’s tax, levy, fee and charge system.
  • Freeze politicians' salaries for at least the next four years.
  • Repeal the State Voice to Parliament.
  • Cap on council rates.

  • $30 million for 50 hectares of limestone shellfish reefs.
  • $21 million voluntary fisheries buyback scheme.
  • $13 million Biosecurity Preparedness Plan for a trained backup workforce for emergency response, improved capacity to diagnose threats, simulation exercises and rapid deployment logistics.

Labor

  • $19.2 million to increase biodiversity and protect native and threatened species across the state, with a focus on volunteer-driven initiatives and building environmental resilience.
  • $6.6 million plan to boost recreational fishing.

Energy
