Glen Waverley RSL significantly damaged in second club fire in Melbourne this week

Fire has caused significant damage to an RSL club in Glen Waverley, in Melbourne's south-east.
More than two dozen fire trucks were called to Waverley RSL in Coleman Parade about 7:10am this morning after multiple calls to Triple Zero (000).
Crews on aerial appliances attacked the blaze from above, but video of the scene shows some sections of the roof had collapsed.
Police said no-one was inside the club at the time.

Investigations into the cause of the fire were being carried out.
Fire Rescue Victoria said initial information suggested the fire started in the kitchen.
An advice message was issued for the surrounding community, warning of smoke in the air and to keep roads clear for emergency vehicles.
It took about two hours for the fire to be declared under control.

The club posted on social media, informing its members of the fire.
"Waverley RSL will be closed today," it said.
"We will keep everyone updated when we know more."
It was the second RSL fire in Melbourne in a matter of days.

On Thursday, a fire destroyed the Sunshine RSL Sub Branch and adjoining bowling club in the city's west.
The club said fire investigators had established that it was caused by spontaneous combustion in a clothes dryer that was not operating at the time.
