Australia's biodiversity report card leaves out fossil fuel support

In short:

An international agreement, the Global Biodiversity Framework, calls for governments to identify and stop financially supporting industries that harm the environment.

But in its first report on its progress towards stopping biodiversity decline, Australia neglects to provide any estimate of its financial support to the fossil fuels industry.

What's next?

The federal government acknowledges it needs to lift efforts to meet 2030 targets including the restoration of 30 per cent of degraded ecosystems.
