WA pensioner Bill Turner chooses to 'live for today' as state's rental crisis hits hard

At 76, Bill Turner is on the brink of homelessness in a state with a shortage of rental housing stock.

He's now one of the 2,258 West Australians aged over 67 on the waitlist for public housing, and one of 23,000 total applications.

According to the state's peak body for homelessness services, average rents in Perth have more than doubled in the last five years.
