Oil storage, refineries and transport all in the firing line of Iran-US-Israeli war

Oil refineries, depots and tankers have all been key targets of US-Israeli and Iranian drone and missile strikes in the first weeks of the war in the Middle East.
The attacks have driven oil prices higher internationally, prompting the International Energy Agency (IEA) to announce the release of 400 million barrels of oil from its 32-member countries.
In Oman, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Iran, oil refinery fires and strikes have meant production has been paused or, in some cases, stopped altogether.
In the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow waterway that connects many of these oil producers to the rest of the world, sea traffic has been reduced to zero. Ships sit idle in many cases, and risk being struck by Iranian drones.
ABC NEWS Verify has mapped some of the key strikes that have caused major disruptions to oil supply and its transit.
Salalah port, Oman
A drone strike this week caused an explosion and fire at the Salalah port and oil facility — the first such attack on Oman's oil sector.
In a statement, the Omani sultanate said several drones were shot down over the port, while others struck the oil refinery, but it said oil supply was not impacted.
In a video shot from the bulk carrier AUSONE, smoke can be seen rising from the first row of storage tanks.

Loading...Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia
Satellite imagery from Vantor in early March shows the Ras Tanura facility well alight, with plumes of smoke seen coming from the refinery.
Iranian drones struck the Saudi Aramco site and critical export terminal in the early days of the war.

Ras Tanura produces more than 500,000 barrels a day and has a central location on the Persian Gulf.

The facility shutdown on March 2 was described as temporary by Saudi authorities, and latest reports indicate it is readying to reopen soon.
Loading...Ruwais Refinery, UAE
At 3:19pm on March 10, United Arab Emirates authorities announced a fire at the Abu Dhabi Ruwais Industrial Complex was the result of a drone attack.
As a result, the UAE oil giant ADNOC was forced to shut down operations.
No injuries were reported, but the shutdown has reportedly impacted the production of 4.85 million barrels of crude oil a day.
In another strike, the Fujairah industrial zone on the eastern coast of the UAE was hit.

Tond-gouyan Oil Refinery, Iran
About 4am on March 7, the Shahid Tond-gouyan oil refinery on the southern outskirts of Tehran was targeted.
The refinery sits inside a major industrial zone near Shahr-e Rey, along the old Tehran-to-Qom road corridor.
While initial reports suggested the refinery itself might have avoided direct damage, later video and imagery showed smoke and flames rising from fuel tanks within the complex.
The facility is a key part of the capital's energy infrastructure and has the capacity to refine more than 200,000 barrels of crude oil a day.

Loading...In the early hours of March 8, the Shahran oil depot in north-west Tehran was hit.
The depot sits at the foothills of the Alborz mountains and is one of the capital's largest fuel storage facilities.
The site holds several million litres of fuel across multiple storage tanks, making it a critical distribution hub for the city.
Verified video from south of the depot shows large flames along the edge of the street, as bystanders run away.
Aqdasiyeh Oil Warehouse, Iran
On the weekend, the Aqdasiyeh fuel storage facility in north-east Tehran was targeted.
Video filmed in the area, and geolocated by ABC NEWS Verify, shows huge plumes of smoke rising from the fuel storage area.
At the time, Iranian health authority spokesman Soudeh Najafi told state media that residents in the Tehran area should avoid going outside to avoid toxic pollution in the air.

Mayuree Naree, Strait of Hormuz
Iran's decision to effectively close the Strait of Hormuz has meant about 20 million barrels of crude oil products have become stuck in the crucial shipping passage each day.
The IEA estimates that it's about 25 per cent of the world's seaborne oil trade.

The Thai ship Mayuree Naree came under fire this week when it attempted to pass through the Strait during Iran's blockade.
The Royal Thai Navy has released a series of images from the ship, with 20 crew members rescued and taken to Oman, according to the Sultanate of Oman.
