A small community near Horsham in western Victoria is desperate for answers after a man was found dead on the Henty Highway early today.
Victoria Police said the body was found in Jung, a town of about 200 people, just after 9am on the eastern side of the highway near Finlayson Road.
They said the man, who was yet to be formally identified, appeared to be about 60 years old.
Homicide squad detectives are investigating and police said the death was being treated as suspicious.
Police said the cause of death had not yet been determined.
Police closed the highway between Dooen School Road and Horsham-Minyip Road.
They are redirecting traffic through Murtoa, about 20 kilometres east of the crime scene.
Police are asking anyone who may have information to contact Crime Stoppers.
