Two men charged over fatal Bruce Highway crash in Burpengary

Queensland Police have charged two men with manslaughter over a head-on crash on the Bruce Highway in Burpengary that killed 26-year-old Andre Roberts in February.
A 46-year-old Redcliffe man has been charged with one count of manslaughter, as well as four counts of enter premises and commit, three counts of stealing, two counts of receiving tainted property and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
A 42-year-old Narangba man has been charged with one count of manslaughter and one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm.
Loading...Mr Roberts, from Caboolture, had been driving a Honda car on February 17 when an Isuzu truck travelling the wrong way on the highway at Burpengary crashed into it.
He was declared dead at the scene while the 46-year-old Redcliffe man, who police allege was driving the truck, sustained critical injuries and was taken to hospital.
Police allege the truck had been stolen from a Hemmant business and was being followed by a Ford Ranger in the moments before the crash.
The Redcliffe man was allegedly behind the wheel of the Isuzu truck and the Narangba man allegedly the driver of the Ford Ranger, a police spokesperson said.

Detective Inspector David Harbison said the truck driver was still in hospital.
"He was subject to a bedside hearing yesterday where he was remanded in custody," he said.
He is due to appear at Caboolture Magistrates Court on May 12.
Truck was involved in theft, police say
Police in February said they had received reports a number of cars had been chasing the truck before the fatal crash.
"It is alleged prior to the incident, this truck and the driver of the truck was involved in some minor criminal activity involving the theft of some scrap," Inspector Harbison said at the time.
He said a number of vehicles were pursuing the truck, with all but one abandoning the chase before it reached the highway.

The Narangba man was arrested on Tuesday and charged with one count of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm to the Isuzu truck driver.
He was released on bail and is due to appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court on April 13.

"[Police allege] the acts were so grossly negligent, they constitute manslaughter as opposed to dangerous operation of a vehicle," Inspector Harbison said on Wednesday.
On 23 February, a 49-year-old man and a 36-year-old man, both from Redcliffe, were charged in relation to the stolen truck.
Inspector Harbison said those charges related to two men who police allege were involved with property crime offences with the driver of the Isuzu truck.
Andre Roberts remembered as 'kindest bloke'
Inspector Harbison said Mr Roberts' family was aware of the court proceedings.
"Obviously they're still devastated, but this is a small token for them that this is now before the court system," he said.
Mr Roberts' partner and friends said he had been travelling on his way home from work that night when he was "taken way too soon".
"Our boy Andre was the kindest bloke around, he just had the most contagious smile, and he brought so much light and joy into everyone around him," they said in a statement to the ABC.

They said he had so much "potential" and he was "smashing" goals.
"Anyone who met him or talked to him just found this instant bond through his energy, he was loved so much by all his friends, family and colleagues,"they said.
"He will be missed and loved dearly, and his legacy will never fade."
