Trial date set in Bruce Lehrmann rape case in Toowoomba

Mr Lehrmann, 30, is charged with two counts of rape, alleged to have happened in Toowoomba, west of Brisbane, in October 2021.
He has not yet been required to formally enter a plea, but has previously indicated he would plead not guilty.
Mr Lehrmann was not required to be present in the court for today's mention.
Mr Lehrmann's defence lawyer, Zali Burrows, who appeared via phone, told the court her client was still considering whether to apply for a judge‑alone trial.

The defence and prosecution will have an opportunity to address applications already before the court during a pre-trial hearing in Brisbane.
Mr Lehrmann's legal team has previously subpoenaed a large amount of police material related to the investigation, including mobile phone data from the complainant, police diary entries, notebooks and other documents.
Crown prosecutor Caroline Marco said she intended to raise an existing application dealing with special witness measures, jury directions and the visibility of certain evidence.
The pre-trial hearing is expected to take a couple of hours.
The court did not indicate how long the trial was expected to run.
