In short:

Jerry Masipau, 26, has pleaded not guilty to the unlawful killing of Barry Urban, the ex-Labor politician who died after allegedly being assaulted at his workplace.

Mr Urban had lied about his university qualifications and overseas military service, leading to his resignation from parliament and ultimately a stint in jail.

He died in 2025, months after the alleged assault in which police said he hit his head on the pavement after an altercation.
